APC Pathway Pro grew out of a simple frustration: every candidate we knew was preparing the same way — generic question banks, late-night cramming, and a nagging doubt that they weren't actually being tested on their own submission. We wanted something better.
Our story
APC Pathway Pro started as a side project — a small attempt to generate realistic mock questions from a real case study. The idea worked so well in practice that it turned into the product you're looking at today.
APC revision is strange. You have months of quiet reading followed by a few weeks of intense, scattered panic. Most of the available tools don't know your submission, your projects, or the specific claims you've made — so the questions they ask feel generic.
Real assessors do the opposite. They read your submission carefully, pick the claims that interest them, and probe. That's what we wanted to recreate — a tool that reads what you actually wrote and asks the questions an assessor would.
The product is deliberately narrow. One thing, done quietly and well, beats a dashboard full of features you won't use the week before assessment day.
What we believe
If a feature breaks any of these, it doesn't ship. We'd rather be narrow and trusted than broad and forgettable.
Every question should come from something you actually wrote. No stock question banks, no pattern-matching against last year's guidance.
Scoring and feedback are anchored to the official RICS APC assessor guide — level definitions, questioning technique, competency rubric.
Countdown, readiness, progress — presented quietly. Your final assessment is stressful enough without a UI that shouts at you.
Because it's a British qualification. Small detail, but it matters when you're rehearsing the language you'll speak on the day.
Submissions and answers are encrypted and accessible only to you. We don't train models on your work or share it with anyone.
Thirty focused minutes a day beats an eight-hour weekend cram. Our default rhythm is designed around that truth.
How we're different
Three decisions that sound obvious on paper, but genuinely change how your prep feels.
Case study, experience record, CPD log — every question is pulled from something you claimed. No generic L3 prompts that could apply to anyone.
Competency demonstration, specificity, technical accuracy, professional language, structure. Weighted the way a real assessor weights them.
Every answer gets three to five specific, actionable next steps — worded the way an experienced APC counsellor would word them.
Built by surveyors
The idea for a tailored revision tool with review capabilities came from me, David. I'm a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors — but once upon a time I was just an APC candidate, much like yourself (I assume!).
I was unsuccessful on my first attempt, but second time around, with a better idea of what to expect, I prepared differently and was successful. What I wish I'd had was a way to generate questions linked directly to my case study — after all, a good portion of your final interview is based on exactly that.
So I pitched my idea to some technical wizards, and the tailored APC revision tool came to life: APC Pathway Pro! It's what I would have wanted in the months leading up to my final assessment — not only the personal approach, but also the review section that lets you clearly see your areas for improvement as well as the areas you do well. All for a fraction of the cost of a mock interview.
I still believe mocks are fundamental, but they require precise timing and a quiet space. APC Pathway Pro allows a more on-the-go approach — great for filling the gaps between mocks and your other revision techniques. Give it a go and see for yourself!
